OVERVIEW
Kibale is a protected rainforest in western Uganda, known for one of the world’s highest concentrations of primate species. Chimpanzee tracking is the principal experience, while guided walks also reveal monkeys, birds and forest plants. Nearby communities remain closely connected to the protected forest and its resources. Wetlands and wildlife habitats belong to the same connected landscape, although they often feel distinct on arrival.
Nearby wetlands and crater landscapes broaden the destination beyond one wildlife encounter. Early tracking is physically demanding but provides the best chance to hear and observe chimpanzees moving through the forest. River travel and guided walks reveal very different layers of the forest environment. Nearby community projects add useful cultural context to the protected forest landscape.
