OVERVIEW
The Corn Islands consist of two inhabited islands off Nicaragua’s Caribbean coast. The larger island has roads, settlements and most services, while the smaller island is reached by boat and has no cars. Beaches, reefs and fishing communities shape both islands, with tourism remaining low-rise and informal.
Snorkelling, diving and simple beach time dominate the experience. Weather and sea conditions affect boat crossings, especially between the islands. The smaller island feels particularly quiet and walkable, while the larger offers more practical choice in accommodation and dining without losing its local character. Fishing, small-scale farming and island cooking remain visible beyond the beach areas.

THINGS TO DO
Dive at Corn Islands’ principal sites
Dive around Corn Islands’ principal dive sites with an operator suited to your certification and experience. Visibility, currents and access change with conditions, and particular sightings are never guaranteed.
Snorkel around Corn Islands’ principal snorkelling waters only when sea conditions and access are suitable. Use local guidance where currents or reefs are unfamiliar, and never promise particular marine-life sightings.
Find Corn Islands’ best-known beaches
Spend time at Corn Islands’ best-known beaches rather than treating every nearby beach as interchangeable. Swimming conditions, access and facilities can vary, so check locally before entering the water.
