OVERVIEW

San Andrés is a small island in the western Caribbean, with a dense main town, resort beaches and residential communities spread around a low limestone landscape. Raizal culture, English Creole and maritime traditions remain important. Mangroves and shallow lagoons occupy parts of the less developed coast. Lagoons occupies a different part of the area from beaches, creating a clear physical contrast beyond the central visitor zone.
