OVERVIEW
Ts’ehlanyane is a mountain region in northern Lesotho, with deep valleys, forest patches and high grassland crossed by walking and horse trails, while rural communities occupy the surrounding slopes. The relationship between mountain rivers, indigenous forest and highland trails across a remote region of villages and dramatic seasonal weather and mountain region gives the wider destination a distinctive structure beyond its principal visitor area.
Hiking and village stays provide the main experiences, while winter snow and summer storms can affect access. The protected forest gives the region unusual ecological importance. Spending time with both mountain rivers and indigenous forest and highland trails across a remote region of villages and dramatic seasonal weather reveals more of the destination than focusing only on its best known sights.
