OVERVIEW
Tierra del Fuego is a glacial region shared by Argentina and Chile, with islands, forests and settlements spread across a harsh maritime landscape. Mountains rise directly from channels, while ranching and port activity occupy lower ground. The relationship between wind swept channels, glacial valleys and remote roads across a far southern region where mountains meet cold seas and glacial region gives the wider destination a distinctive structure beyond its principal visitor area.
Road journeys, hiking and boat trips reveal very different environments, with weather changing rapidly throughout the day. The sense of distance and exposure is central to the experience. Spending time with both wind swept channels and glacial valleys and remote roads across a far southern region where mountains meet cold seas reveals more of the destination than focusing only on its best known sights.
