OVERVIEW
Tarangire is a protected savanna region in northern Tanzania, with open woodland, grassland and a major river supporting large wildlife populations, while elephants are especially prominent. The combination of baobab plains, elephant herds and seasonal rivers across a distinctive savanna landscape shaped by water and migration and savanna gives the wider destination a distinct physical and cultural structure.
Game drives provide the main access, while dry season wildlife concentrations can be exceptional. The park is less open than the Serengeti, creating more varied habitats. Experiencing baobab plains alongside elephant herds and seasonal rivers across a distinctive savanna landscape shaped by water and migration reveals more of the destination than focusing only on its best known visitor area.
