Nyingchi is a city and surrounding mountain region in eastern Tibet, where deep river valleys, forested slopes and glaciated peaks create a greener landscape than much of the plateau. Urban development remains concentrated on the valley floor, with rural settlements and monasteries spread across nearby hills. High peaks occupies a different part of the destination from river, giving the wider area a clear physical structure.
