Moorea is a high volcanic island near Tahiti, with steep ridges, deep bays and a ring of coral reef. Villages, farms and small resorts line the coast. Settlement follows the relationship between coast and island interior, which remains visible beyond the main visitor routes, with farms providing an additional point of connection. The destination is physically divided between reef and farms, with roads and settlements linking the two.

Snorkelling, hiking and road trips provide the main experiences, while local food and village life add depth. The island is developed but still feels strongly connected to its landscape. Time spent around bay also brings coast into view, adding a different layer to the visit. A visit centred only on farms would overlook bay, where the wider landscape and local activity remain visible.
