OVERVIEW
Malapascua Island is a small island north of Cebu, with sandy paths, fishing communities and dive resorts spread around the coast. Motor vehicles are limited and daily life remains closely tied to the sea. Beaches occupies a different part of the destination from coastal settlements, giving the wider area a clear physical structure. Away from the principal landmarks, coastal settlements gives way gradually to island interior across the wider area.
Diving is the main attraction, especially early morning encounters with thresher sharks. Beach time and village walks provide a gentler balance between trips. Conditions around island interior can differ noticeably from coastal settlements, so flexible timing improves the overall experience. Routes through beaches lead naturally towards villages, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers.
