OVERVIEW
Bohol is a large island in the central Philippines, known for the Chocolate Hills and the tiny Philippine tarsier. Limestone landscapes, rivers and farming communities define the interior, while beaches and dive sites are concentrated around Panglao Island, connected by bridges to the main city. Spanish-era churches remain important landmarks in several towns.
Day trips often combine inland roads, wildlife centres and river scenery, while longer stays allow time for diving, snorkelling and quieter coastal areas. Tarsiers are nocturnal and sensitive to disturbance, so responsible viewing matters. Tourism is well developed around Panglao, but much of the interior remains rural and lightly visited.
