OVERVIEW
Grand Teton is a protected mountain region in north western Wyoming, where the Teton Range rises abruptly above a broad valley. Lakes, rivers and sagebrush flats support moose, bears, bison and abundant birdlife. Roads and trailheads provide access without long approaches. Local communities occupy the ground between high peaks and lake shore, keeping the wider landscape visibly inhabited.
Scenic drives reveal the peaks quickly, but hiking and paddling provide a deeper sense of scale. Wildlife is often visible near roads, requiring careful distance and patience. Sunrise light on the mountains is especially memorable. Routes through high peaks lead naturally towards lakes, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers.
