Gili Islands

The Gili Islands are three low coral islands off the north western coast of Lombok. Gili Trawangan is the largest and busiest, Gili Air balances nightlife with local settlement, and Gili Meno remains quieter and less developed. Bicycles and horse carts replace motor vehicles on all three. Across the wider area, coast remains closely connected with reefs, rather than forming an isolated visitor zone.

Snorkelling and diving focus on turtles, reefs and underwater sculptures, while beaches vary with tides and coral conditions. Boat transfers are short but can be rough. The islands are easy to combine, though staying on one provides a clearer sense of its individual pace and community. Exploring beyond reefs reveals island interior, a part of the destination that short visits often miss.
