OVERVIEW
Dugi Otok is a narrow Adriatic island with steep cliffs on its outer coast and sheltered bays facing the mainland. Small fishing villages, olive groves and low scrub are spread along a single main road. A protected southern bay and a salt lake provide the island’s most distinctive natural landscapes.
Swimming, boating and cycling reveal contrasts between calm eastern shores and exposed western cliffs. Settlements remain small and services limited, which preserves a quieter atmosphere than on busier neighbouring islands. A car or scooter is useful, though boat trips provide the best access to remote coves.
