OVERVIEW
Kornati is a dense archipelago in the Adriatic, formed from low rocky islands, reefs and narrow channels with very little permanent settlement. Sailing and boat travel are essential, while dry stone walls and sparse vegetation reveal long histories of grazing and land use. The destination broadens noticeably where islands gives way to island interior beyond the main visitor area.
Services are limited, and the landscape’s appeal lies in its stark openness and relationship with the sea. Multi day sailing allows the changing channels, light and empty anchorages to be appreciated without rushing. Islands provides the most immediate experience, while island interior offers a quieter and more local perspective. The contrast between inhabited islands and islands becomes clearest when more than one part of the destination is explored.
