OVERVIEW
Pag is a long Adriatic island with barren limestone landscapes, sheltered bays and towns connected by roads and bridges. Salt production, sheep farming and distinctive local lace remain important traditions. Island interior and bay belong to the same connected landscape, although they often feel distinct on arrival. Across the wider area, bay remains closely connected with island interior, rather than forming an isolated visitor zone, with villages providing an additional point of connection.
Driving reveals dramatic contrasts between exposed eastern slopes and calmer western shores. Food, beaches and small village streets provide a balanced experience beyond the main resort areas. Island interior is encountered differently from bay, making it worthwhile to leave time for both parts of the destination. Routes through beaches lead naturally towards island interior, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers, with villages providing an additional point of connection.
