OVERVIEW
Chapada dos Veadeiros is a high plateau of grassland, rocky ridges and river-cut valleys in central Brazil. Waterfalls and natural pools are spread across protected land and private reserves, with small towns providing accommodation and guides. The surrounding cerrado ecosystem supports distinctive plants, birds and mammals adapted to seasonal fire and drought.
Most sites require walking over exposed, uneven ground before reaching water, so heat and sun protection matter. The dry season brings clearer trails, while rains increase the power of waterfalls and the risk of flash floods. Alternative communities and wellness retreats add a cultural layer, but the landscape remains the main focus.
