OVERVIEW
Cayo Coco is a flat island off Cuba’s northern coast, connected to the mainland by a long causeway. Large all-inclusive resorts line several broad beaches, while mangroves, lagoons and scrub cover much of the undeveloped interior. The island has little conventional town life, with most services contained within hotel areas.
Swimming, sailing and organised water activities dominate the experience. Flamingos and other waterbirds inhabit nearby wetlands, while boat trips reach reefs and smaller cays. The setting is highly convenient for a self-contained beach stay, but travellers seeking markets, architecture or everyday urban culture will need to continue beyond the resort zone.
