OVERVIEW
Cayo Guillermo is a low cay of beaches, mangroves and lagoons connected by road to neighbouring islands and the mainland. Hotels occupy only part of the shoreline, leaving long stretches of pale sand and clear shallows. The island has no established town centre, and most practical services are provided by the resorts.
Beach time, kitesurfing and catamaran trips provide the main activities, with offshore reefs supporting snorkelling and diving. The smaller scale feels quieter than larger resort islands nearby, though dining and evening options remain limited outside hotel complexes. Strong wind can affect water sports and boat plans.

THINGS TO DO
Dive at Cayo Guillermo’s principal sites
Dive around Cayo Guillermo’s principal dive sites with an operator suited to your certification and experience. Visibility, currents and access change with conditions, and particular sightings are never guaranteed.
Kitesurf in Cayo Guillermo
Kitesurf at Cayo Guillermo’s main kitesurfing area only in wind and water conditions suited to your ability. Local instruction is important where launch areas, currents or seasonal winds are unfamiliar.
Snorkel in Cayo Guillermo
Snorkel around Cayo Guillermo’s principal snorkelling waters only when sea conditions and access are suitable. Use local guidance where currents or reefs are unfamiliar, and never promise particular marine-life sightings.
Find Cayo Guillermo’s best-known beaches
Spend time at Cayo Guillermo’s best-known beaches rather than treating every nearby beach as interchangeable. Swimming conditions, access and facilities can vary, so check locally before entering the water.
