OVERVIEW
Brno is the main city of Moravia, built around a compact centre of medieval streets, churches and civic buildings. A hilltop fortress and cathedral dominate the skyline, while early modern villas and bold functionalist architecture reveal the city’s twentieth-century importance. Universities and technology businesses now shape much of urban life.
Cafés, bars and cultural venues are woven into the central streets, giving evenings a youthful character. Underground cellars and shelters add an unusual layer beneath the old town. The city is less monumental than Prague, but its smaller scale makes architecture, food and everyday neighbourhood life easier to combine.
