OVERVIEW
Bermuda is a small Atlantic island group formed from low limestone ridges, sheltered bays and a densely settled main island. Pastel houses with white stepped roofs line narrow roads, while the historic towns of Hamilton and St George’s provide shopping, harbour life and colonial architecture. Coral reefs protect much of the coast and create unusually clear, shallow water.
Beaches range from broad pink-sand stretches to small coves hidden between rock formations. Sailing, diving and maritime history are central, and short distances make it possible to combine several parts of the island in one day. Roads are busy and visitors cannot rent conventional cars, so buses, ferries, scooters and small electric vehicles shape local travel.
