OVERVIEW
Poreč is a small town on Croatia’s western coast, with a historic centre preserving Roman street patterns, medieval buildings and a major early Christian basilica. Hotels and residential areas extend along the surrounding shoreline. The old peninsula retains a compact street grid inherited from antiquity, with later houses and churches fitted into the earlier structure.
The basilica’s mosaics are the main cultural focus, while harbour walks and nearby beaches create a relaxed contrast. Summer brings heavy visitor numbers, but evening streets retain a more local rhythm. Coastal cycling routes and nearby villages extend the destination beyond the busy historic centre and hotel lined shoreline. Inland villages and vineyards offer a quieter view of the wider peninsula.
