OVERVIEW
Obudu Plateau is a highland region in south eastern Nigeria, where grassland, forest and steep escarpments rise above warmer surrounding plains. Resorts, rural communities and winding roads occupy the accessible upper areas, while valleys and waterfalls cut through the slopes. Away from the principal landmarks, main settlements gives way gradually to port across the wider area.
Walking and scenic drives provide the main experiences, with cloud and changing weather shaping visibility. Infrastructure can be inconsistent, so current road and accommodation conditions are important when planning a visit. Routes through forest lead naturally towards grassland, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers. The relationship between forest and main settlements becomes clearest when the destination is explored over more than one area.
