OVERVIEW
Novi Sad stands beside the Danube, with a compact centre of colourful civic buildings and residential neighbourhoods extending across flat terrain. A large fortress rises on the opposite bank. Settlement follows the relationship between fortifications and neighbourhoods, which remains visible beyond the main visitor routes. Fortifications occupies a different part of the destination from river, giving the wider area a clear physical structure.
Food, cafés and cultural events create an easy social rhythm. River walks and quieter streets provide balance beyond the major festival periods. Routes through fortifications lead naturally towards river, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers. Time spent around river also brings local food into view, adding a different layer to the visit.

THINGS TO DO
Trace local history at Monument
Use Monument to understand a specific part of Novi Sad’s past rather than viewing it without context. Allow time for interpretation, not only the most photographed exterior.
Admire Petrovaradin Fortress
Look closely at Petrovaradin Fortress for a concrete introduction to Novi Sad’s built character. Notice the materials, street setting and later changes as well as the main façade.
Taste local food around Sad Novi Bazaar
Use Sad Novi Bazaar as a starting point for tasting food connected to Novi Sad, choosing regional dishes or produce rather than a generic international meal. Opening days may shape the plan.
EXIT Festival is a scheduled event rather than a year-round attraction. Check the current dates, programme and ticket arrangements before building the rest of the trip around it.
