OVERVIEW
Negril is a coastal town in western Jamaica, divided between a long sandy beach and rocky cliffs farther south. Hotels, restaurants and local communities extend along a narrow road. Beaches and coast belong to the same connected landscape, although they often feel distinct on arrival, with cliffs providing an additional point of connection. Beyond the central area, local food and cliffs continue to organise settlement, movement and everyday land use.
Beach time, swimming and live music create the main rhythm. The resort strip is developed, while quieter roads and local food provide a more grounded experience. Routes through coast lead naturally towards music culture, so the experience changes without requiring long transfers. The relationship between coast and music culture becomes clearest when the destination is explored over more than one area.
