OVERVIEW
Karpas is a remote peninsula in north eastern Cyprus, with narrow roads, low hills and long stretches of lightly developed shoreline. Greek and Turkish Cypriot heritage, pilgrimage sites and small farming communities remain visible across the scattered settlements. Harbours, villages and opposite shorelines create noticeable changes across the narrow landform. The destination is physically divided between villages and beaches, with roads and settlements linking the two.
Driving is essential, while current crossing arrangements and political sensitivities should be checked before travel. Long beaches and small villages reward slow exploration, particularly beyond the limited number of developed coastal areas. A slower route makes the changing coast and small settlements easier to appreciate. Harbour provides the most immediate experience, while coast offers a quieter and more local perspective, with beaches providing an additional point of connection.
