OVERVIEW
Guam is a large island in the western Pacific, with coral reefs, limestone cliffs and a central range of low hills. Resort districts and military facilities occupy much of the north, while villages and historic sites are spread across the south. Chamorro culture remains central to food, language and identity. Coast occupies a different part of the destination from reef, giving the wider area a clear physical structure.
Snorkelling, diving and coastal drives provide the strongest outdoor experiences. Memorials and museums explain the island’s strategic role in the Second World War. A car is essential for reaching quieter villages and southern viewpoints. The strongest contrast comes between reefs and cliffs, which support different activities and daily rhythms. Reefs draws most attention, while reef provides a quieter and more local dimension.
