OVERVIEW
The Costa de la Luz extends along the Atlantic shores of south-western Spain, with long sandy beaches, dunes, pine forest and low coastal towns. Fishing ports, historic centres and wetlands provide greater variety than a continuous resort strip. The open ocean creates stronger surf and wind than the Mediterranean coast.
Roads connect the main settlements, but many of the finest beaches lie beside dunes, wetlands and protected landscapes with limited construction. Reliable wind supports surfing and kitesurfing, while fishing towns provide seafood and a stronger local rhythm. Summer is lively, though the scale of the coast prevents it from feeling uniformly crowded.
