Cilento Coast

The Cilento Coast stretches along southern Campania, where wooded hills and mountains descend towards bays, headlands and fishing settlements. Greek archaeological sites stand near the northern edge, while villages, olive groves and protected landscapes continue south. Development is less continuous than along better-known resort coasts, leaving long sections of rural shoreline and traditional hillside settlement.

Beaches range from broad sandy stretches to small coves beneath cliffs. Driving links the main towns, but inland roads reveal stone villages and agricultural landscapes away from the sea. Summer brings local crowds, while spring and autumn are better suited to walking and archaeology. The region rewards a slower route rather than a single resort stay.
