OVERVIEW

Canaima is a remote region of forest and open savanna dominated by sheer-sided plateau mountains. Rivers spill from their summits in immense waterfalls, including the world’s highest uninterrupted drop. A small lagoon-side settlement provides basic lodges and air access, while most journeys continue by boat and on foot into the wider protected landscape.

Reaching the principal waterfall requires river travel through rapids and rainforest, with conditions strongly affected by water levels.
