OVERVIEW
The Braslav Lakes form a large lake district in northern Belarus, shaped by glaciers into a rolling landscape of clear water, islands and wooded hills. The small town of Braslav provides basic services, while villages, campsites and holiday cottages are scattered around dozens of interconnected lakes. Birdlife and wetlands are important throughout the region.
Boating, fishing, swimming and cycling are the main activities, with viewpoints revealing how densely water covers the landscape. Facilities are simple outside the main town, and public transport is limited. The region is valued more for space, quiet and access to nature than for formal attractions or developed resort infrastructure.
