OVERVIEW
Bonifacio occupies a high limestone headland at the southern tip of Corsica. A fortified old town stands above sheer white cliffs, while the modern marina lies deep inside a narrow inlet below. Stone lanes, defensive walls and harbour restaurants are concentrated within a small area, with open sea visible on both sides.
Boat trips show caves, cliffs and the eroded base of the headland more clearly than land-based viewpoints. Steep stairways and uneven streets shape exploration of the upper town. The harbour can become crowded in summer, but early mornings and coastal paths reveal a quieter side beyond the main marina.
