OVERVIEW

The Bazaruto Archipelago consists of several sandy islands lying off southern Mozambique, separated from the mainland by shallow turquoise water. High dunes, freshwater lakes and coral reefs create varied habitats, while the surrounding seagrass supports rare dugongs as well as turtles, dolphins and abundant fish. Development is limited to small communities and a handful of resorts.
