OVERVIEW

Badlands is an eroded landscape in South Dakota, where layered clay ridges, pinnacles and broad grasslands meet across a dry open plateau. Fossil beds record ancient mammals, while bison, prairie dogs and bighorn sheep occupy the surrounding prairie.
