OVERVIEW
Redang Island is a mountainous island off Malaysia’s east coast, with coral reefs, sandy bays and resort development concentrated on a few beaches. Much of the interior remains forested, while small roads and boat routes connect the limited developed areas. Small coves and forest paths provide additional variety beyond the main resort beaches. Turtle nesting beaches and protected reef zones give conservation a visible role in how accommodation and marine activity are managed.
Snorkelling and diving are the main experiences, while boat access and weather shape the season. The island becomes quieter outside peak months, when some services close. Most visitors remain near the main bay, while boat journeys reveal smaller coves and underwater habitats around the island. Seasonal closures protect visitors during rough monsoon seas and allow reefs periods of reduced pressure.
