OVERVIEW
Preveza is a small town in western Greece, built beside the entrance to a large gulf. A compact historic centre, marina and residential streets create a low key urban environment. The narrow channel outside the harbour controls access to a large sheltered gulf, giving the town a long strategic and trading role. Fishing boats and regional ferries continue to use the sheltered harbour.
Food and evening waterfront walks provide the strongest local character, while nearby beaches and archaeological sites broaden the stay. The town feels more like a working regional centre than a purpose built resort. Nearby wetlands support rich birdlife, while ruins of an ancient victory city add historical interest beyond the waterfront.

THINGS TO DO
Trace local history at Castle of Pantokrator
Use Castle of Pantokrator to understand a specific part of Preveza’s past rather than viewing it without context. Allow time for interpretation, not only the most photographed exterior.
Find Preveza’s best-known beaches
Spend time at Preveza’s best-known beaches rather than treating every nearby beach as interchangeable. Swimming conditions, access and facilities can vary, so check locally before entering the water.
Explore Preveza’s archaeological sites
Explore Preveza’s archaeological sites to understand the ancient settlement, belief or engineering that shaped Preveza. Allow enough time to read the site rather than treating it as a photo stop.
Taste regional food scene in Preveza
Use Preveza’s regional food scene as a starting point for tasting food connected to Preveza, choosing regional dishes or produce rather than a generic international meal. Opening days may shape the plan.
