Prescott is a small city in northern Arizona, built around a courthouse square and historic commercial streets at higher elevation than the surrounding desert. Granite outcrops, lakes and pine forest lie close to residential districts. The city’s elevation produces cooler seasons and pine landscapes unlike the lower desert cities farther south. Granite formations rise close to the residential edge of the city.

Walking, local museums and food provide an easy urban experience. Nearby trails and quiet roads add substantial outdoor variety, especially during the cooler seasons. Courthouse events, western bars and nearby lakes give the centre a social character closely linked with the surrounding high country.
