Porto de Galinhas is a small coastal town in north eastern Brazil, with sandy streets, hotels and restaurants concentrated beside a long beach. Offshore reefs create natural pools that become visible at low tide. Formerly associated with sugar and port trade, the settlement now depends heavily on tourism concentrated along a relatively short stretch of coast.

Boat trips and swimming are organised around tidal conditions, while the central streets remain lively into the evening.
