Plitvice Lakes is a lake region in central Croatia, where a chain of clear lakes descends through forest over natural limestone barriers. Waterfalls, caves and wooded slopes are connected by boardwalks and boat crossings. Water constantly deposits and reshapes the pale barriers between lakes, so the visible system remains geologically active rather than fixed.
