OVERVIEW
Kuldiga is a historic town in western Latvia, with timber buildings, narrow streets and a brick bridge crossing the Venta River. The centre retains a coherent low rise character, while a broad natural waterfall lies directly beside the town. Settlement follows the relationship between river and museums, which remains visible beyond the main visitor routes.
Walking is the best way to explore the old streets, riverbanks and small museums. The town remains calm outside summer weekends, with local cafés and residential life close to the principal sights. Autumn colour and winter snow create very different versions of the same streets. The relationship between river and central streets becomes clearest when the destination is explored over more than one area.

THINGS TO DO
Explore Kuldiga District Museum
Focus on Kuldiga District Museum for a collection that adds real context to Kuldiga. Check current exhibitions and opening days, then allow enough time for the sections most relevant to the destination.
Admire Kuldiga Castle Park
Look closely at Kuldiga Castle Park for a concrete introduction to Kuldiga’s built character. Notice the materials, street setting and later changes as well as the main façade.
Trace local history at Historical Centre of Kuldīga
Use Historical Centre of Kuldīga to understand a specific part of Kuldiga’s past rather than viewing it without context. Allow time for interpretation, not only the most photographed exterior.
