OVERVIEW
Kopaonik is a mountain region in central Serbia, developed around extensive ski terrain, hotels and protected highland landscapes. Winter sport dominates the main resort, while summer brings walking, cycling and open plateau scenery. Small villages remain scattered along the lower approaches. Forest occupies a different part of the destination from villages, giving the wider area a clear physical structure.
Development is concentrated near the lifts, leaving quieter forest roads and villages beyond the central area. Summer and winter feel markedly different, making the mountain more than a single season resort. Village roads and forest paths offer a quieter alternative to the developed resort plateau. Exploration centred only on mountain terrain would miss forest, where local activity and landscape remain equally visible.
