Kakheti is a broad wine region in eastern Georgia, with vineyards, orchards and farming villages spread beneath the Greater Caucasus. Traditional clay vessel winemaking remains central to local identity, while family cellars and larger estates offer very different approaches to tasting and hospitality. Working estates and agricultural villages remain central to the character of the wider valley.

Monasteries, fortified towns and seasonal harvest activity add cultural depth beyond the vineyards. A slower route allows time for village meals, small producers and the changing views between fertile lowlands and the mountain edge. Village restaurants and working farms provide balance between formal tastings. Country roads between the estates are especially rewarding outside the busiest harvest weekends.
