OVERVIEW
Hormuz Island lies in the strait connecting the Gulf with the Arabian Sea, formed from salt domes and volcanic rock. Red, yellow and white mineral layers appear across beaches, valleys and cliffs. A small town occupies the northern shore, while the rest of the island remains sparsely settled. Bay and island interior belong to the same connected landscape, although they often feel distinct on arrival.
Driving or cycling reveals constant changes in colour and geology. Salt caves, rock formations and quiet bays provide the main attractions. Heat is severe for much of the year, and current regional conditions should be checked before travel. Cliffs provides the most immediate experience, while island interior offers a quieter and more local perspective.
