Haʻapai is a scattered island group in central Tonga, combining low coral cays, volcanic islands and small villages. Tourism remains limited, and many beaches are undeveloped. Ferries, small aircraft and local boats connect the main inhabited islands. Boat routes link communities that retain noticeably different scales and levels of development.
