OVERVIEW

Funafuti is a low coral atoll and the main population centre of Tuvalu. A narrow strip of land holds homes, government offices and the airport, while a vast lagoon occupies the interior. The highest points rise only a few metres above sea level, making climate vulnerability an everyday reality.

Swimming, fishing and lagoon trips provide the main activities, while the narrow land strip keeps ocean and lagoon constantly visible.
