OVERVIEW
Diani Beach extends along the Indian Ocean south of Mombasa, with a broad white shoreline backed by hotels, villas and forest patches. Coral reefs lie offshore, while nearby mangroves and small villages add ecological and cultural variety. Development is linear rather than centred on a single town.
Swimming, kitesurfing and boat trips dominate the coast, with snorkelling and diving available beyond the reef. Monkeys and coastal birds are often seen around gardens and forest remnants. Resort facilities are extensive, but road travel and beach vendors can make some areas feel busy. Early mornings are especially good for calm water and quieter walks along the shore.
