OVERVIEW
Arlberg is a mountain region straddling the border between two Austrian provinces, centred on a high pass and several closely linked resort villages. Steep slopes, deep valleys and reliable winter snow have made it one of the historic centres of alpine skiing. In summer, the same terrain supports hiking and cycling, with lifts and mountain huts providing access above the settled valleys.
Each village has its own emphasis, from lively international resorts to smaller communities with a more traditional scale. The ski area connects much of the region, but road and rail routes still follow the narrow valley floor and mountain pass. Accommodation and dining are strongly developed, while the landscape remains the main reason to visit in every season.
