OVERVIEW
Anglesey is a large island off the north-west coast of Wales, connected to the mainland by two bridges. Its coastline includes broad beaches, rocky headlands, tidal straits and small harbour towns, while the interior is mainly farmland and low rolling country. Prehistoric burial chambers, medieval churches and a major castle reveal a long history, and the Welsh language remains widely used.
A coastal path circles the island, revealing cliffs, beaches, wetlands and small ports over a long continuous route. Seabirds and marine mammals add interest around exposed headlands and offshore islands. Villages and attractions are widely spread, so a car helps with a broader visit. Beach time and rural calm sit within easy reach of the mountains across the strait.
